Despite what its name may imply, Nothing New is a brand new vegan shoe brand that offers men’s and women’s shoes made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled plastic, recycled rubber, and recycled fishing nets. Their slogan is “Sustainable with Style,” and like, yeah, they’re really cool.
Founded by Nolan Walsh Nothing New joins a huge list of sustainable shoe brands that make shoes using recycled plastic bottles and other eco-friendly materials. The list includes well-known companies such as Beyond Skin, Rafa, and Rothy’s, among many others.
For those unaware, Nolan Walsh is also the co-founder of the Thursday Boot Company, another popular shoe brand that launched back in 2014 after a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Nothing New’s men’s shoe line includes low-tops and high-tops available in a variety of colors, including gray, black, red, blue, olive, and white, with sizes ranging from 7 to 13. The women’s shoe lineup also includes high-tops and low-tops available in the same colors as the men’s footwear, with sizes ranging from 5 to 11.
Low-tops carry a suggested retail price of $95, while high-tops cost $110. However, there are ways to get them cheaper.
Nothing New has something called the Virtuous Circle Program, which allows customers to send back their old Nothing New sneakers and get 20 percent off their next purchase. This in return, allows the company to “make sure nothing goes to waste or ends up in a landfill.”
